General information regarding the Alternative Consumer Dispute Resolution
Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) covers mediation, conciliation and arbitration. The RAL entities are the entities authorized to mediate, reconcile and arbitrate consumer disputes in Portugal that must be registered in the list of RAL entities provided for by Law no. 114/2015.
Published on 8 September 2015, Law 114/2015 approved the new legal framework for alternative (extrajudicial) resolution mechanisms of consumer disputes, creating in Portugal the Arbitration Network and establishing a duty of information, for companies supplying goods or providing services, the existence of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Center exists and is applicable to the sector in which the companies operate.
